in our hearts forever

Donald Mattes

When I think of Muke, I think of kindness, warmth, positivity and of course Liverpool. In Dec 2020 he convinced me to join this whatsapp Liverpool group chat with some local Charlotte fans and I dropped out because my phone didn't stop ringing.

For his bday, he asked me if I wanted to join him to this place he rented. Unfortunately, I was visiting my parents in the Netherlands so I couldn't join.

You Will Never Walk Alone, my guy! Love you and we will play some basketball when I get there, can't wait to hear you on the court!t there, can't wait to hear you on the court!

Muke was an extremely wonderful individual, once in a billion years will one meet someone so genuine and selfless. I remember us walking around Temple and literally having to stop every other minute, because this man was known and loved by everyone. Brother we’ll miss your contagious laughter that brightened and brought joy to the whole room, you’ll forever live on in our hearts. Love you bro!

I met Muke the summer of 2016 and we remained friends ever since. Watching his determination to get a job in Charlotte and his motivation to become successful there was so inspiring. Although we were far a part, he always checked in on me and we had talks and created memories that will last a lifetime. He always motivated me on my educator journey and believed in my dreams. When he smiles, you can’t help but to smile as well. He always made me feel supportive and safe and provided love that I will cherish forever. I promise to give you a shoutout when I write my book Muke.

I hate to hear the news that we've lost a family member. Though I haven't seen Mukeke since I was 11 in OH at a family reunion, I am deeply saddened by his loss. I don't have many actual memories, but my spirit remembers he was my favorite when I was little. I remember visiting Philly, and I went wherever he went. You never forget your favorite people even as you grow apart. He was definitely one of mine. See you again one day cousin.

Muke always lit up any room he was in. He was full of so much positivity and kindness. Thank you for making my college experience a memorable one. Rest in perfect Peace. You will be missed, deeply.

I first met Mukeke in the fourth grade. One memory that sticks out to me. One day I had a doctor's appointment and had came to school late. We were doing physical exercises. At the end of the class we were arm wrestling. Being I was late Mukeke was the strongest boy. When I got there he got so upset because he knew he was going to lose that title, and he did lol. We lost contact after sixth grade but he was a special person with a very special laugh.

Everyday with Muke was funny and filled with energy. Going to miss our convos talking about family and life and the advice he would always give me. You definitely missed we all love you.

Sitting next to him in finance class, he was always talking about his goals. He wanted to move to NC and worked in finance. He went from interview to interview but always kept his humor. He was so excited when he got the job. Muke was a hard worker and so determined. That is something I remember the most and most admired about him.

Hello, first I want to send all of my love to the family of Muke. Please know we are praying for you all. I met Muke in Temple Student Government. His warm, infectious smile made me comfortable enough to chat with him. I was always inspired by his advocacy and dedication to SEAL (Society of Emerging African Leaders). He represented his country, his people, his organization, and his family with so much grace and class. We talked about visiting his home country one day. Every time we saw each other it was positivity, warm vibes, laughter, and joy. He has a heart of gold. He always had an encouraging word for me and supported me in various endeavours at Temple and post-grad. I am so happy we kept in touch over the years and I got to hear about his life in Charlotte. Muke embodied all the things you would want in a student, leader, employee, friend, son, and brother. He was beautiful inside and out. It is hard for me to think about not calling/texting him or running into him at a Temple homecoming/reunion. We love you Muke and your memory will live on forever.

Mukeke was a beautiful soul. I met him during his time in Sierra Leone & once or twice back in the States in Phili. Rest well Mukeke.

What I will remember about you is your smile. You always smiled laughed and loved to make people smile or laugh. Even when you got older, matured and became a young serious man, you always had that smile. I’m not sure why God called you now, but I know so many loved and will continue to love you. So many hearts broken. Thank you for your deep conversations, for your educating me on things I didn’t understand. Just thank you 🙏🏾 I thank you for being an example. Thank you for your talks with those younger than you. I just thank you and I am proud of the person you became and the memories you left behind. I continue you to pray that you are resting in peace. The way you were peaceful, thoughtful, cheerful, funny and wow when did you get all the knowledge. I think everyone wants to be remembered the way you are right now. Well done you are a perfect example of being and living how you want to be remembered. Cheers. 💗

I came very close to Mukeh when he visited us in Manchester for the summer vacation. He had done a year in Freetown with Aunty Amie and thought it was time to return to the US to continue his schooling. Unfortunately, his plans were different from his parents, they wanted him to spend 2 years in Freetown. He spent few weeks with us in Manchester and within that period he and Maada my son did everything together. He was such a lovely obedient person. Rest in Perfect Peace Mukeh!

Mukeke. This hurts. From freshman year joking around to randomly staying in touch over the years, you were always such a bright light. Encouraging and always smiling, I could always count on you to make me laugh. Your Temple family is hurting, because we know how special and vibrant your presence was during each and every encounter. You will forever be in my heart dear friend. Rest peacefully.
